Verplank and ReelFit Win in Dallas!

30/04/2007

Scott Verplank got to know Byron Nelson as a teenager growing up in Dallas. He learned from and cherished their relationship. Scott's victory (or "personal 5th major" as he referred to it) became a reality when he converted his 2-foot par putt at No. 18 on Sunday, beating fellow FootJoy player Luke Donald by one shot. Overcome with emotion, Verplank dropped to his knees, dropped his head into his hands, and looked up with a smile on his face.

Verplank closed with a 66 (-4) for a 267 (-13) total, a stroke ahead of Donald (68) for his fifth PGA TOUR victory, and his first since the 2001 Canadian Open. Verplank and Donald were the only two players to shoot four consecutive rounds in the 60s.

Scott's victory was also a memorable one for FootJoy. The one shot victory was also FootJoy's first PGA TOUR win for the breakthrough technology of ReelFit golf shoes. Scott trusted all black style #53808 for his hard fought win.

Verplank's win is the 11th for FootJoy shoe wearers 2007 PGA TOUR. FootJoy shoes were the overwhelming choice at the EDS Byron Nelson Championship, with 70.5% (nearest competitor 16%).
